Roosterfish

Roosterfish (Nematistius pectoralis) is a game fish common in the waters of Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama.

The Roosterfish is distinguished by its rooster like dorsal fin. Roosterfish can reach over 4 feet in length and over one hundred pounds. The weight of the average fish hooked is about 20 pounds. Roosterfish are a popular game fish.

  • Medium action bait rods 6-7 feet long, rated for 20-50 lb. line
  • 20-50 lb. test line
  • Leader 4-6 feet in length, with 50-80 lb. line
  • Hook sizes of # 1, 2, 1/0 & 2/0 can be used, 4/0 to 7/0 hook for large baits
